Improve fine motor control

I came across this website today but it has got some good ideas for promoting fine motor control in young children.  This is what we try to do in foundation as it is the way to help improve your child's fine motor control and therefore improve handwriting and pencil control.
Have a look it may give you some activities to try at home.

Phonic and reading websites

A lot of parents have been asking how they can help their child with reading and phonics over the holidays.  If you have access to a computer and the internet I have listed some useful website for reading and phonic games for them to use.

Different games like buried treasure, sorting words into sets, spotting sounds.

some games, videos, online texts to read.

lots of interactive games, sound buttons, reading key words.

video clips of different sounds etc

variety of different books to read online

Hope this is of some help.

Mrs Helen Hitchens

Thankyou for a fantastic year in Foundation!

Foundation staff are very sad to say goodbye to all the Lions, Tigers and Leopards who are off to Y1.

Y1 start school at the earlier time of 8:40 - 8:50.  They must have arrived by 8:50 when the bell rings or they will get a late mark in the register.  Y1 children should use the entrance at the bottom of the playground through the red gates.  They can be collected from the playground at 3:15.

School starts back on Wednesday 5th September.  You should all have received a calendar of school dates, holidays and training days in with your child's report.  If you did not please get one from the office as it has all the dates school is open and closed

Family Creative

Don't forget to sign up for coming to the family creative session which will be on Wednesday 18th July 9-10 or 2-3 in your child's new Year 1 classroom with their new teacher.  It is a chance for you to see where your child will be working and also ask any questions you may have.  Hope to see you all there.

Year 1 Blog

From September when I move into Year 1 I am going to continue running the blog to inform parents of what we have been doing in Year 1.  I am going to presume that I still have permission to put photos on unless anyone informs me differently.
