Wellies and waterproofs

If your child has outgrown any waterproof coats or if their wellies no longer fit them we would be grateful for any donations of these items.  It would really help us when the children are taking part in digging and growing activities.

Reading Meeting

Thankyou to everyone who attended our reading meeting today we hope you found it useful to be given the information and expectations for the year.  The children will be bring home a letter tomorrow with information so if you don't receive it let us know.
If anyone would like to become a reading mentor and can spare an hour or two each week please let us know.

First week

Everybody has had a fantastic first week back settling in very quickly into the routines of the day and they have all been working very hard.

The children have been helping to set up the outside area so that we can teach focused sessions using the outdoors when the weather is fit.  They have been busy weaving ribbons into  flowers, butterflies, balls and wigwams.  They have helped to plant some of our herbs and flowers ready to go into our wildlife and small world area very soon.

The new sand tray has proved very popular and we have been making the most of the weather by using the outdoors this week.

 Don't they look lovely?

Day 1

What a lovely first day all the children returned to school with big smiles, enthusiasm and excellent attitude so well done!

We will be holding a reading/phonic meeting on Tuesday 18th September - times to be confirmed shortly.  This will be to inform you of how phonics is extended after Foundation and reading expectations and ideas which may help you.

Over the next few weeks you will see developments with the outdoor area as we are going to be using the great outdoors for focused group work.  Please make sure your children have appropriate clothing for outdoor play.

Please fill in baking permission form ASAP so we are aware of any allergies.  We hope to start  cooking as soon as possible.

First Day Back

Just a few bits of information to help Wednesday morning run a bit smoother.  Children can arrive from 8:40 and must be in school when the bell rings at 8:50am.

Y1 children need to use the entrance through the red gates in a morning.  Parents need to exit through this door after settling children in class.  Y1H can exit via the side door in a morning.

Children need to put book bags in the box in classrooms if they want their home reading book changing.

Children need to tell teacher/Teaching assistant first thing whether they are having school dinners or packed lunch when they arrive.  If having packed lunch they need to hang bags on their pegs.

Pegs- all have names on and are ready to use.  Y1TJ pegs are on the right hand side as you come into the building.  Y1H pegs on the left as you come in the building.  Y1W pegs are on both sides but at the top of the corridor.

Children need to check the jobs board in their classroom slike they used to do in foundation to see what activity they will be doing first.

At home time children are collected from the playground - can parents please stand outside the red railings and wait for the teacher to dismiss the children.  If someone different is collecting please make sure staff are aware.  Mrs Hitchens children can be collected from the end of the ramp.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.
